We started this blog when we left for Guadalajara in late 2006. It feels like a lifetime ago. Well, really it was. Since then we survived a kitchen remodel, pregnancy, birth (and beyond) and now we have a son who runs our lives and we couldn't be happier (well, most of the time that is). This blog is all about him. Since all our family is far away we hope you check in now and then to stay updated on the life and times of El Chiquitito.

Party time!
3 weeks ago we went to the temescal street fair and I just happened to run into Amy, Setor and David. It was great. We had a fun time listening to music, drinking beer and people watching. Before that, Rocco and I went to Mara's babyshower in Alameda. Rocco was the ONLY baby there so he got lots of attention. He sat on Ariana's lap for most of the afternoon. In the photos you can see that he is eating - finally! He's still not a great eater but he's eating. He is very picky. Right now he's really into these barley bisquits that I found at Whole foods. So now I carry them around with me and whenever he gets a little grumpy I give him a bisquit to chew on.

It isn't just a dog park
Unless you have a dog or a baby you never really get to know your local parks. When Doc the dog lived here we frequented 1 park in particular. Well it turns out that on the other side of the dog park is the "kid" part of the park. It's great. I take Rocco there almost every morning. He started this weird ritual over the last 2 days. As soon as I sit him in the swing, he poops. And when I take him out he has a fit and begins to cry. In general, he is more temper mental these days. If he doesn't get what he wants, he gets mad and all I hear is "mamamama mamamamaaaaaa mamamamamamamaaaa..." in between the sobs.
So here he is at the park today. He had a good morning so far...2 naps, time at the park and in a couple of hours we are off to music class.
And I have to mention that our crib training is working. He is finally getting used to it. He sleeps in it for a few hours every night before he comes to bed with us. It's been great and we are very happy with the progress. Now all we have to do is work out his sleep and abra kadabra we'll have the perfect baby.

He is our son!
We've decided to listen to Oma Anne's advice to us. Rocco is just too smart to crawl! He doesn't have time to crawl when he has so much information to process. Plus all he has to do is grunt and we pick him up. He has it pretty good I'd say.
Well this is a video of Rocco for Oma Anne - happy belated birthday!
** I am having a hard time posting the video. Gwyn? need your help! :>

Our Garden Project
Thank goodness for about.com and the online how-to manuals. Daniel and I are anxiously watching our corn and tomatoes grow a little every day. So far, so good - after all, they are still alive and it's been 2 weeks.
We decided to plant potato's, squash and strawberry's. Daniel went to the store to buy whatever it is we'll need to get this started. I'd love to grow asparagus but it takes 3 years to yield the first bunch. We need instant gratification. I can't wait 3 years....
