Rocco 2nd video with Nana Lucy

Here is Nana Lucy while Rocco is crying a little bit.
It's a little more exciting than hiccups.

My mom leaves on Tuesday then we are on our own again. I've been taking lots of photos of she and Rocco. This is a minute and a half video taken on Friday.

It is

Sunday Morning - Rokito style

This morning Rocco slept until 4AM and he went back to bed around 5:15AM only after he pooped on my side of the bed and on Daniel. His poop literally flew through the air while Daniel was changing his diaper. It was scary. After that, Daniel had to clean up and change and I had to change the sheets. Rocco was blissfully unaware and just went back to sleep farting along the way! Here he is this morning after another change, feeding and burp session.

Rocco votes (or would if he could) Obama

His head looks very small compared to his body in this picture. It really isn't - his head is in proportion to his body despite what this photo shows.

We had to have him wear the shirt for the debate on Friday which I mostly missed because the mister gets very fussy in the evening.

First Bath

Rocco had his first bath last week. He loved it. Before that he was just getting sponge baths. He loves the water and is very happy until we take him out of the sink. He also hates it when I brush his hair. Today he turns 5 weeks old.

Wedding Alert! Congrats to Lisa and James

Yesterday was Lisa and James wedding at the Port of Oakland - actually at a park next to the Port of Oakland. It was a beautiful ceremony and James and Lisa exchanged vows that made almost everyone cry. Afterwards we headed to La Taza de Cafe for great food, salsa music and drinks.

Baby David and Rocco

Rocco and David were able to hang out last night - which meant a lot of sleeping and meeting in the restroom to change diapers. Jackie "glitter" Simpkins was in heaven with the baby brigade. When she wasn't holding Rocco, she was holding David. Her new name, well besides that of Glitter Simpkins is the "baby whisperer."
Here are the two cuties!

Countertops

Yea - we finally have countertops. This morning they were installed so Rocco and I left for Deb's house. While there, we watched the Coco Chanel movie (a lifetime movie) and then Deb cleaned Rocco's feet with a q-tip. He seemed to really enjoy his pedicure.

Yesterday was James and Lisa's wedding and we were out fom 2-9PM. Rocco was great and LOVED being with so many people. He was a happy little baby and Jackie was SO happy just holding and rocking him back and forth throughout the night. Of course, in full Jackie style she wore a glitter-galore outfit which inevitably ended up on Rocco. We tried to get some of the glitter off but he still has some glitter on his toes, his checks and arms.

I've been calling him a Saturday morning hangover. He's covered in glitter, he's been sleeping a lot, pooping, farting, eating and complaining all day. He did have a big party to attend last night so it's only right that he spend the day recovering watching the Coco Chanel story, getting a manicure and hanging on Deb's couch.

Here are photos of our almost completed kitchen!

Rocco's 1st video

This is for Oma Anne.

Sleep? What's that...

So in the beginning - you know when we brought Rocco home from the baby factory we thought that he was a great sleeper. That's all changed. He hardly sleeps. He is always alert. Jackie recently bought him a swing mobile which has really helped to keep him calm and sometimes he even sleeps for a couple of hours.
At night we get anywhere from 5- 7 hours over an 11 hour period. I guess it could be worse but Daniel and I are tired. Very tired! We take turns at night changing him and trying to get him back to bed.
My mom returns next week. Thank god. Having an extra set of arms will be a huge bonus for us. Yesterday he turned 4 weeks old. And as of Wed, he weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces. He has a double chin now and is filling out.

A gift from Tio Andy and Tia Jen

Andy and Jen sent us 2 bottles of wine with a personalized label welcoming Rocco into the world! These photos were taken today after his feeding. I had him sitting upright and was burping him. He makes the funniest faces when he has gas :>

Feet and Hands -

My mom wanted photos of his tiny feet and hands.

Nana Lucy left but will be back in 3 weeks

My mom left on Friday but she is already coming back. She will be here in 3 weeks - she can't stay away from Rocco for too long. She calls him Chiquitito so Daniel and I have gotten into the habit of calling him that too now. He's going to be so confused with all his names! We are also speaking Spanish, English and German to him - god only knows what words he'll pick up.

Here are some pictures of Chiquitito and Nana, as well as a couple of of him being weighed by my midwife. He was 6 pounds 7 ounces last week which means he is probably close to 6 pounds 12 ounces today. He's a good eater!

Special request: For Tante Anja

Rocco's tia in Frankfurt has requested more photos of her nephew. Here you go. I took these yesterday afternoon after his 100th feeding and god knows how many diaper changes. This kid has a very efficient digestive system. Our latest find is that he loves his car seat. When he starts to cry and we don't know what else to do to calm him down, the car seat seems to work.
